    In Austria wood pellet prices were stable in August. According to the price survey of ProPellets Austria, prices for bulk goods in August were at € 206 per tonne, the same level they were in July.

  • Germany: Hardwood Order Season to Start Early

    Much earlier than last year, this year's order season for hardwood logs and sawlogs will start. Tentative orders in the last season and constraints during the log harvest due to the harsh winter of 2009/2010 have reduced wet storages at mills quickly.

  • Strong US Dollar Beats Down Wood Fiber Prices

    The global pulp industry benefited from lower wood fiber costs and higher product prices in the 2Q/10. Wood chip and pulpwood prices fell the most in the US, Sweden, Finland, Australia and Eastern Canada. Both the softwood and hardwood wood fiber price indices (SFPI and HFPI) fell for the first time since early 2009, according to the Wood Resource Quarterly.

  • Germany: Wood Pellet Production Rests at High Level

    The German wood pellet production in the 2nd quarter remained at the level of recent years. According to the most recent survey of the German Fuel Wood and Pellet Association DEPV, from April to June around 410,000 tonnes of wood pellets (previous year: 430,000 tonnes) were produced.

  • German Pellets Starts Production in Erndtebrueck

    The German Pellets GmbH, Europe's largest producer of wood pellets and animal bedding products, is going to supply North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) with pellets. Within the next days the first wood pellets will run off the production line in the new plant of the NRW Pellets GmbH in Erndtebrueck, a subsidiary of RWE Innogy and German Pellets.
