The Spanish subsidiary of Weinig will become reality in the first quarter of 2006, as Rainer Hundsdörfer, chairman of the Weinig management board, confirmed during the latest edition of Fimma. The new subsidiary will be located near Madrid. Hundsdörfer explained that this initiative enables the company to offer better support to Spanish and Portuguese clients, but it will also help to make the company and its machines better known in the region. Weinig projects a turnover of more than 10 million euros for the Spanish market in 2005 and a total of 120 machines sold, similar to last year. Despite the stable sales, the German manufacturer is convinced that the European wood market has an important growing potential and that the incoming change of legislation during 2006 will have positive effects on wood building. On a global scale, Weinig Group received orders valued at 356 million euros (176 million euros for Weinig company) during 2004 and predicts an order value of 370 million euros (Weinig: 190 million euros) for this year. United States are the most important export market for German machinery, followed by China, a country often described as a threat, but which brings opportunities to many companies at the same time. "The global situation is not as bad as they say it is ", concluded Hundsdörfer.
