Prices for Softwood in South Central Germany (Baden-Wurttemberg, and Hessen) have slightly increased. The new contracts are valid through to mid-year. The Demand for pine and spruce wood is stable and well above the offered amount. The prices of both spruce and pine have increased by about 1 EUR / fm. The prevailing Market price for spruce 26-30 cm in Diameter in Mid range quality is at 94-95 EUR and toping out at 98 EUR per solid m³.(FM). The prevailing market price for pine in the same size and grade is at 72 and toping at 75 EUR / FM.

Compared to the 2nd Half of 2012 the prices for pallet and packaging timbers moved towards a  more stable yet slightly yielding range. This is attributed to a decline in German exports towards the end of 2012. The logging is due to poor weather backed up. In early January, it was very wet, so that the skidding was unachievable. The short frost period helped to accelerate the skidding a little. With the onset of massive snowfalls the logging in many Hills of the Hessen has come to a halt.
