Russia: sawn timber export value up by over 25% in Q1 2017

In January-March 2017, Russia increased its sawn timber exports again, indicate the statistics published by the Russian Federal Customs Office.

Thus, during the first three months of the current year Russia exported 3.964 million tonnes of sawn timber. That is 17.32% more than during the respective period of the last year. 

The total value of the exported Russian sawn timber increased as well. In January-March 2017 it came up to $825.6 million having gone up by 25.31%. 

In its turn, Russian log exports went a bit down in volume terms. In January-March 2017, Russian log exports went down to 4.71 million m3 while during the respective months of the last year the figure equalled 4.77 million m3. Thus, Russian log exports decreased by 1.23% y-o-y. 

The total value of the Russian logs exported in January-March 2017 came up to $361.1 million, that is 10.09% more than during the respective period of 2016.
