Russia: sawn timber export value up by 28.44% in Jan-Feb 2017

In January-February 2017, Russia has significantly increased its sawn timber exports, indicate the statistics published by the Russian Federal Customs Office.

Thus, during the first two months of the current year Russia exported 2.335 million tonnes of sawn timber. That is 21.73% more than during the respective period of the last year. 

The total value of the exported Russian sawn timber increased as well. In January-February 2017 it came up to $483.6 million having gone up by 28.44%.

The Russian log exports increased as well, however, their growth rate was much lower than that of sawn timber. In January-February 2017, Russian log exports came up to 2.92 million m3 while during the respective months of the last year it equalled 2.88 million m3. Therefore, the figure increased by 1.15% y-o-y.

The total value of the Russian logs exported in January-February 2017 came up to $222.8 million, that is 13.26% more than during the respective period of 2016.
