Rougier has announced the allocation of a forest concession of about 270,000 hectares in the Central African Republic. The French company is one of the main owners of forests in Africa, with more than 2 million hectares of managed forest concessions in Cameroon, Gabon and Congo.

The forest was acquired after an international tender organized by the government of the Central African Republic. The concession, with a renewable term of 25 years, covers the operation and management of a forest located in the prefecture of Sangha-Mbaéré (South Central) which has mainly high-value species such as Sapelli.

This acquisition enables Rougier to develop new activities in the Central African Republic. Rougier's subsidiary Sangha Mbaéré, newly created with this occasion, will benefit from the expertise already developed by the group in the Congo Basin, in matters such as responsible forestry and industrial transformation.
