Germany: Pellets again more expensive in November

As the German Energy Wood and Pellet Association (DEPV) reported, the average price for a tonne of pellets in Germany has increased slightly over the previous month and currently stands at EUR 284.21. This represents a 0.7% increase over October. In November 2012, the price for a tonne of pellets was EUR 247.90, meaning that year-on-year the increase is of 14.6%.

Regionally, there are different prices for wood pellets in Germany. In the North and East one can find the most favourable prices (appr. EUR 277.13/t for a quantity delivered of 6t). In the center of Germany the average quality pellets cost EUR 283.40 per tonne.

The most expensive pellets are in southern Germany, with an average of EUR 286.80/t.

Larger quantities (26 tonnes) were traded in November at the following rates: North/East: EUR 261.36/t; Center: EUR 265.52/t; South: EUR 273.50/t (all including VAT).
