It’s been a while since there appeared the rumors above the upcoming launch of the Austrian Kronospan’s plant in Ufa (Russia). The plant in question was supposed to start operating about a month ago, but as far as it is known, it hasn’t been launched yet.

The reasons for such a delay are not quite clear. The known fact is that at the moment Kronospan Ufa is still being under construction. According to Kronospan Bashkorkostan’s CEO Ardasher Kurbansho, the plant has manufactured a single sample MDF board, but for now that’s it. The construction of the plant will be finished “during the upcoming 6 months, perhaps”.

Despite the rumors which may have contributed to the delay of the plant’s launch, the site seems to meet all the ecological requirements.

The administration of the site organized a press-tour to finally proof that the plant was falsely accused of violating the ecological restrictions.

According the Russian mass-media, journalists didn’t find any discrepancies while visiting the plant.

Being the CEO of Kronospan Bashkorkostan, Mr. Kurbansho commented on the issue: “You shouldn’t believe those who state they saw a lot of smoke coming out of the pipes. This is steam. All the air coming out of pipes is 90% water. If the temperature outside is higher than 16-18 degrees, you will not see anything at all. As soon as it goes below 12 degrees centigrade there will appear huge clouds of steam”.

The CEO also underlined that the plant’s administration pays a lot of attention to the problem of ecology and safety. He stated that all the production cycles of the plant are “loopbacked”. The local deputy of the State Assembly suggested installing air quality control systems at the site to stop all the rumors once and for all.
