Finland: in January-August wood imports decreased by 10%

In the first eight months of 2017 the Finnish wood imports decreased by 10% down to 6 million solid cubic meters, reports Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke).

In August the export value of the Finnish forest industry products was EUR 1 billion. In January-August the real export value of forest industry products totalled EUR 7.87 billion (deflated using whole sale price index, 1949=100). From the previous year January-August the export value decreased by 1%.

The Finnish wood imports came up to 0.80 million solid cubic metres in August. Compared with the previous year wood imports decreased by 10%.

In August-January wood imports totalled 6 million solid cubic metres. The monthly import of wood was between 0.65-0.83 million solid cubic metres. In January-August 2017 volume of wood imported in Finland was 10% lower that during the respective period of the last year.
