Random Lengths Lumber Market Report
Trading of framing lumber slowed after Wednesday, as traders hit the exits or waited to take a fresh look at the market after the long holiday weekend. Many prices gained early, but upward momentum faded as the week progressed. Producers were supported by order files that often extended into mid-September, and many anticipated another push in demand from customers covering their fall needs. Some traders were less confident about the market’s post-holiday staying power.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel trading was cautious. As many traders anticipated, mill sales of OSB were quiet heading into the long holiday weekend. Prices in most regions were unchanged. Southern Pine plywood mills opened to steep counters to clear sheathing available for shipment the weeks of September 1 and 8. Producers, however, firmed quotes by late Wednesday after extending order files into mid-September. Western Fir plywood sales were measured, and prices were flat to down.
