Low stock volumes of softwood sawlogs in Sweden

Stock volumes of softwood sawlogs in Sweden is estimated at 2.1 million m³ in the second quarter of 2017. Compared with the same period last year this is a decline of 21 percent. The total stocks of coniferous sawlogs, pulpwood and wood chips is estimated at 7.3 million m³ (cubic meter solid volume excluding bark) as of 30 June 2017. This is a decrease by 12 percent compared with the same period last year.

The total stocks of pulpwood amounted to 4,4 million m³, a decline by 8 percent compared to the second quarter 2016. Though, there were huge regional differences. 

Pulpwood stocks were distributed on 65 % of mixed softwood pulpwood, around 14% of spruce pulpwood and around 21% of broadleaved pulpwood.

The stock volumes of wood chips is estimated at 0.8 million m³. This is a decline by 10 percent compared to 30 June 2016.
