Spruce prices in Tyrol drop to five-year low

In June, only about a third of the volumes reported in May were sold in Tyrolean non-state forests. The reason for this are probably the unusually low wood prices. The prices for main assortments have again fell sharply in June, with spruce prices of €85.71/m3 for B/C quality and 58.90 for Cx being at the lowest point in five years.

Spruce sawlogs - quality class B/C; 2a-3b: € 85.71/m3; The price of the main range spruce BC has dropped by 4.8% in June.

Spruce sawlogs- quality class CX: € 59.90/ m³; The price of spruce Cx has dropped by nearly 9.7% in June. 

Overview of the second quarter:

  • Fir sawlogs- quality class B/C; € 75.02 / m³. 
  • Larch sawlogs- B/C: € 102.21/m³
  • Pine sawlogs- B/C: €73.49/m3
  • Small-sized spruce B/C: €67.72/m3
  • Spruce pulpwood: (IS, IF, I2, ID, IM, IP): €32.04m³
  • Soft firewood:€28.39/m³.

Tyrol roundwood price index

Monthly index in June 2015 stood at 131.274%. Price have dropped sharply at an average of € 85.71 (-4.767%).

Quarterly Index (II / 15) stood at 138.962%. Tyrolean roundwood price index has declined sharply in the second quarter by -8.363% compared with the first quarter.

Average prices for spruce-standard ranges (B/C; 2a-3b) were in the second quarter at an average of € 90.73/m³ compared to €99.01/m³ in the first quarter.
