Germany: Price of wood pellets drops in April

The price for wood pellets in Germany has decreased accordingly to the arrival of the warm season. Thus, the price of EN plus wood pellets went down by -3.6% during April 2017, as compared to March, reaching EUR 246.08/tonne.

As compared to the same period of 2016, the price is also 6.1% higher, while the price advantage over natural gas and heating oil is just under 15%, according to the survey of the German Energy Wood and Pellet Association (DEPV).

During April 2017, the price for wood pellets has the following regional differences: in central Germany the price was the most favorable, set at EUR 242.39/t (for a 6 t purchase). In northern Germany, the price is EUR 243.21/t, while in southern Germany the 6 t amount costs EUR 248.38/t.

Larger quantities (26 t) were traded in April 2017 in the following conditions: central Germany: EUR 228.72/t; south: EUR 235.59/t, north and east: EUR 228.73/t. (all including VAT).
