Pellets in Germany again cheaper than oil

As in Switzerland, the end of the heating season marked a decline for the price of wood pellets in Germany. In May, the average retail price of German ENplus A1 quality wood pellets is 228.18 EUR / t, as the German Energy Wood and Pellet Association (DEPV) reported. This corresponds to a decline of 1.6% over the previous month. Compared to the same month of last year, the price is 4.9% lower. The price advantage of wood pellets against natural gas is of approximately 28%. Pellets in Germany are once again cheaper than heating oil, with a price advantage of 3.8%.

In southern Germany, the price of pellets is 224.02 EUR / t in May, the lowest in the country. In central Germany, the price is 227.42 EUR / t  for the same purchase quantity (6t). In northern and eastern Germany the price is 235.32 EUR / t.

Larger quantities (26 t) were traded in May 2016 in the following conditions: South: 212.74 EUR / t, Center: 214.09 EUR / t, North / East: 214.77 EUR / t (all including VAT).
