Timber industry in Tyrol is well supplied with logs. Dry weather conditions and the lack of snow make for a busy harvesting. According to the National Forest Management of Tyrol, harvesting is supplemented by imports from southern Germany. Therefore, increasing softwood prices were not expected. The sawmill industry laments the continuing weakness of the softwood lumber market in Italy. Other important markets for the Tyrolean timber industry, like North Africa and Japan, are currently little receptive.
